Hi! I'm Andrew from Cambridge in the UK. I recently retired and have been looking for ways of supplementing the laughable pittance the State gives me for contributing to the economy for 45 years !
I'm married with three grown up kids (a boy and two girls) and a grand daughter of 8. In my 'spare time' (how is it that it all seems to run into one kind of time when you retire?), I like to take photos, manipulate them on the PC, blog on 360 and spend time on Yahoo Answers and 360.
I used to work as an IT Trainer, so I have good skills with MS Office and other software. In my time, I have also been in IT Support, so I'm fairly au fait with PCs, as well. If anyone has any problems with Office or with PCs, I'd be glad to try and help! I belong to a number of forums on Office and other PC related things, so if I don't know the answer, I can usually come back with one pretty quickly!
I found this forum through meeting Warren on MyLot and buying his article , 'The Answer is Yahoo!' One of the things that has most taken my fancy is producing and selling eBooks online, so in the next week or so I shall be following the instructions in that excellent introduction! |

Hi Andrew
Nice to see a fellow Brit in the forum. I'm not too far away from you down in sunny Berkshire.
Funny you used to work as an IT Trainer as I work for an IT training company!
I also sell ebooks through ebay so if you need any advice please let me know. Plus i'm in the same time zone so we should be able to answer each other withour waiting a day!?

Hello Andrew,
Good to meet you. I have already used Mark as an information source. Looks like you would be a good person to keep on my "pick their brains" list also.
I just signed up a fellow up in the North England area. He said he was 17 miles from Scotland.
I am looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Andrew another brit here.
This is my first post so I will keep it short I cant think when I joined BYB not that long ago but I have not really done a lot with it I do use the URL rotators and the autoresponders I must say I have had no problem with them. I have put my link in traffic exchanges but as yet have had no one stay more than the 7 days free trail.
If anyone as some good addvice please let me know.

Hello Ian,
When ever I get a 7 day free trial referral, I make sure I contact them immediately. Since I live in the States and have a one price longdistance phone service, I pick up and call the domestic ones. I don't try to sell the program. I just chat, ask questions and listen to what they tell me. Very casual and non canned.
My international referrals, I send a personal email. I try to keep it friendly and personal in nature. I might ask some questions about the area that they live in. Again, I ask questions and try to develop a relationship.
By handling my referrals this way, I have been able to upgrade 6 since I signed up August 1st. Oh, one other thing I do is get on the forums. They are a valuable source to build a presence. Read a couple of articles about that subject on my website 'articles' section.

Hope this helps a little.

I agree with Dave
If they're local, call them. International email them.
However with programs like SkyPe etc making it cheaper to make international calls the boundaries are being reduced.
We're all here for advice. _________________ Mark

Good luck on your referral Ian,
You must be doing something right by getting the referrals.
I learned from Warren to make a presence on the internet. That's how you got in, isn't it? You saw Warren on MyLot and responded. I am using the forums to build my presence. One of the things I do is always put my picture in the profiles and then make a signature file. I want people to recognize me and click on my posts just because they see the photo and remember that I might have said something that was interesting. I am learning every day on how to increase my 'presence'. Most of my sign ups are a result of that 'presence'
Keep doing what you're doing. It takes time and this is a marathon, not a race.
