|

Hey Ron Clark, (or anyone who would know)
Hi,
I got my picture put on my Buddy Site. It was 125kb, showed my big belly, so I thought it might help reduce the kb's if I reduced it. (the picture, not the belly. Although I am working on that too.) I sized it down, lightened it up with a HP phote program (came with my printer)
Anyway, if I reduce it any more, all that will show is my nose and I was afraid that might turn someone off. The file size is 32kb.
I notice that the size allowed by different forums varies greatly.
Is there any way I can reduce the resolution? Or is there a different solution? The camera used was a 5 megapixel camera. Is that the problem? |

Hi Dave,
Sorry for being so long getting back to you, I have been gone most of the day.
You are exactly right, the 5 megapixel camera is much higher resolution than you need for these little pictures. I would suggest setting the camera to 1 or 1.5 for most anything you are going to use on here. The higher resolution is really only important for highly detailed pictures you plan to enlarge greatly.
I use Photoshop Elements 2.0 for adjusting my pictures. If you don't have it, you can try to zip the file and send me the picture and I will fix it for you. I think I got my pic down to about 12 k for here on the forum. |

Hi Ron,
Actually, the resolution on the camera didn't help the problem. I got a combination of tips over on the HIT forum. The ironic part is that after all the help, I still can't get my pic up there.
Their limits are a fairly large file size 24 kb or something their width and height limits are 120 pixels. I posted the same question there and then I went out and bought a camera because I needed one to take pictures of my tractor. I set the camera on the lowest resolution and had my daughter take my picture. When I cropped it to head size, I still had 46 kb where cropping the one my friend took got me down to 32 kb. Note that file size on low resolution was larger that file size on high resolution.
Some one on the HIT program offered to resize my 46 kb photo if I would email it to her. I did and she returned it as a 2.4 kb file. It still wouldn't load on HIT so I put the photo through Paint/images/skew as suggested by some one else on that forum. I reduced it to 80 % and retried. I got a message requiring the file to be .jpg or .jif. or .jepg which the photo was.
My next step was to go to The List Machine forum and upload it there. Their limits are 8 kb and 100 pixel size. 100% photo was too large so I used the 80% photo and it loaded fine.
Then I came here. The 100% photo had to be reduced to 70% in order to meet the 80 pixel size limit.
So everything is cool except on HIT forum. I think they have a technical problem.
